  5.  sensory system,讲得是一种鱼的颜色,既想要吸引mate,又要躲避predator;

TASK1: Your university is organizing a series of guest lectures. Some people think that speakers with controversial opinions should not be invited to speak at the university. Others believe that the university should feature a variety of speakers, regardless of their opinions. Which point of view do you agree with? Explain why, using details and examples in your response.

TASK2: 教授说准备开设online office hours,这样可以节省时间还可以provide students with more opportunities。

TASK4: two defenses plants use to protect them from fungus,

The reading proposes three theories to explain why giant squids have developed big eyes; however, the professor in the lecture argues that the reasons why giant squids have such big eyes are unknown, and each of the reading’ theories is problematic.

First of all, the reading indicates that large eyes can help giant squids to find preys in the dark, which is contradicted by the professor. According to him, even if giant squids have such big eyes, they cannot see the small preys in the dark. Meanwhile, they always use their touching to find preys. It is observed that they always stay motionless and use their tentacles to touch and seize preys.

Secondly, quite different from the point mentioned in the reading that giant squids use their big eyes to find mates, the professor disagrees with it totally. This is because squids do their mating behaviors from a young age, but scientists have found that young giant squids have small eyes. Their eyes grow larger when they become mature, which means it is unnecessary for them to reproduce with the support of eyes.

Finally, in the reading, the author believes that large eyes which help them to see organisms even 120 meters away are used by giant squids to escape from predators, especially those sperm whales. By contrast, the professor says that sperm whales use sound to locate their preys. To be specific, they can emit sound and wait it to go back, and then they can know the location and distance of giant squids, which can help them to find preys which are more than 300 meters away which far outweigh the distance giant squids can see.

  题目:care for a pet animal对孩子的好坏

学生A:好,可以激发students’ interest to explore natural world

From my perspective, it becomes rather apparent that keeping a pet exerts more positive influences on children’ s growth. One of the pivotal benefits is contributing to their physical and mental health. For one thing, when a child begins to keep a pet animal such as a cat or a dog, he or she will change his or her daily behaviors in order to care for a pet. For example, a kid who is accustomed to sleeping until the noon will get up early to walk the dog. Not only will it increase children’s physical exercises, but also helps to cultivate a healthier life habit. For another thing, a pet may be the intimate friend to children. To be specific, nowadays, with the increasingly fiercer competition in the society, children are swamped with various school assignments and social activities, which bring them much pressure. When they keep a pet, they can air their depression and apprehensions to their pet, which will help to relax their minds and erase their nerves strikingly. (171words)
